A completely independent alternative to our "Bike Pikes Peak" tour, this self-paced and self-guided exploration tour follows a historic 1800's era mountain locomotive railway. This spectacular three hour downhill route traverses a vast canyon wall, passing through several exciting railroad tunnels and offering unforgettable vistas around every bend. A well established path meanders through wild and primitive terrain throughout the ride. We provide all necessary equipment, mountain transport and easy-to-follow route map to return you safely back to our base shop. This trip is great for families, large group excursions, and newlyweds (and oldlyweds!) who just want to get away from it all. Stop where you want, when you want, and take as long as you want. It's all up to you!
Please Note:
This tour is not on Pikes Peak

Get ready for an exciting 7000 foot descent down one of America's most famous 14er's! Your bike ride begins at the summit of Pikes Peak (14,110 feet) where you can take photos and enjoy the breath-taking 360 degree view for as far as the eye can see. Our fun, professional guides will fit you with KONA mountain bikes and give a complete safety briefing before we begin the descent. You will marvel as the scenery changes from Alpine tundra at the top to semi-arid desert at the base-as we descend through five separate climactic life zones. To get you started, we treat you to the "Manitou Pancake and Steak House" for an all you can eat buffet complete with fresh fruit and choice of entrees. This unforgettable journey is designed for all abilities and requires no prior training or conditioning. However, if you have any health concerns please consult a physician for high altitude compatibility prior to participating. Dress for summer but bring gloves, jackets, and pants to wear over t-shirts and shorts as it can be cold at the summit. If you forget anything, don't worry, we'll have it waiting for you!
Please Note:
While it doesn't happen often...unfortunately there are times, due to weather, that we are not able to drive our vans to the very top of Pikes Peak. When this occurs, we begin our bike trip at a lower elevation. You will be refunded $1 back per mile you did not get to bike.

Wouldn't you love to be able to take a trip up Pikes Peak on the Cog railway, and then enjoy riding down on a bike? Now you can!
We'll leave the shop at 6:30 in the morning for a delicious breakfast at the Manitou Pancake and Steak House. After breakfast, you will be dropped off at the Cog railway station for the train ride. When you arrive at the top we will be waiting to greet you with bikes and all the equipment you need for an unforgettable ride down America's most famous mountain!
This tour is only offered June 7th through August 12th and space is limited!!

While it doesn’t happen often...there are times, due to weather, that we are not able to drive our vans to the very top of Pikes Peak. When this occurs, we begin our bike trip at a lower elevation. If this takes place, you will still join us for the bike ride, but your Cog trip will unfortunately have to be cancelled. When we arrive back at the shop you will be refunded the price difference.
